A Historical Challenge

As you may know Mission 2006 is fast approaching.

It has been proposed that we here at St. Clement’s hold an exhibition of our church’s history during the autumn of 2006 in the church hall as a follow up to this memorable time of outreach.

We are appealing not only to you, our congregation but to anyone who has at anytime in their lives had connection with our church.  These may include being a church member, being married at St. Clement’s or have been a member of any organisation within our church.

In our discussions we have already heard about parents and indeed grandparents of our congregation who were members of our church.  We also hope to compile a history of St. Clement’s which is planned for publication to coincide with its 120th Anniversary in 2009.

The book, the cover of which features on the front of this brochure, will not only be a celebration of 120 years of St. Clement’s but we hope will provide a valuable history of our church and also our home town of Parkstone together with it’s mother town of Poole.

This may seem many years hence but if our plans are to succeed we need to start collating the information right away.

We plan to use all resources available to us including The Internet, Local Press, Local Historians, Local Schools, Local People in fact anyone or anything anywhere in the world that will eventually give us a lasting record of this period in the history of St. Clement Branksome and the area it serves (Newtown, Upper Parkstone, Alderney etc).

How can I help?

There are several ways in which you will be able to help

*PRAY for our project

*Let us see any old photographs or Video

*Write down any memories you may have of your connections with St. Clements and this area

*Show us any church magazines,  cuttings, Old marriage certificates, Baptismal or confirmation certificates.

*Talk to people with local connections.  Ask them for their memories of Parkstone and also of Poole.

*REMEMBER It doesn’t matter how small or insignificant your memory may be, it is VERY IMPORTANT to us.

CONTRIBUTIONS will be gladly received as original documents alternatively they may be presented on computer CD discs.

All original materials must have details of the contributor together with a list containing details of the items contributed.
